John C. Tartaglione began drawing before he was old enough to go to school. He was encouraged to develop his creative abilities by his talented father, John, Sr., who had worked at Marvel for several decades during the 'Silver Age' of comic books. John, Jr., studied painting, drawing and illustration in New York City at the Fashion Institute of Technology and the School of Visual Arts, where he was a student of such distinguished artists as the late Jack Potter and the late Herb Tauss.
