One of my principal concerns as a painter is to seek a coherent and meaningful whole from the random, chaotic profusion of natural forms often marginalized and overlooked in the larger context of a landscape. By concentrating on tree fragments, layers of dried leaves, or intertwining vines, I attempt to transcend the mundane literalness of the subject matter and allow an opening into a new awareness and appreciation of the strange beauty of organic forms that stimulate the imagination and border on the fantastic.
