In late 2007, I switched from being 'art observer' to 'art practitioner'. Portraiture and figuration are my primary subjects, but I've recently been interested in landscape and still life. I mostly paint in oil, but occasionally return to drawing with charcoal, pastel, and pencil. My painting style for figures is inspired by the works of Rembrandt and Rubens. My style for landscape paintings is inspired by the techniques of artist Johannes Vloothuis, Jim Wilcox, Clyde Aspevig, and Scott Christensen.
