51. Hidden Treasure

When people come to visit Denali, of course they come to visit Denali National Park. Yet, there are areas outside of the National Park that is as beautiful as inside of the park. One particular area I love a lot is a stretch of the old Denali Highway east of Cantwell (about 20-30 south Denali). There, the mountain range is as spectacular as you can see inside the park, but without any traffic! For several hours I was there, only several cars passed by. The main reason it is so unpopular, I guess, is because it is not part of the National Park. The other is probably because it is unpaved road, although it is no problem to drive there, even with my little car. I certainly enjoyed this “hidden treasure” - the scenery as well as the solitude.
