Autumn Poetry . . . Autumn Leaves . . .Into Winter . . . .

Recently added more images to Autumn Leaf & Vine and to Autumn Leaves.

Although ''tis winter still, since was updating autumn images here are a couple poetic fragments, the most recent one last:

Drenched Fire:

Drenched fire clings to the trees.
It blazes submerged in
shallow mud-bottomed pools,
tree limbs darker
and flames more bright
for their coat of wet.
Fire swirls through
the rain and wind
landing on
sodden pages
of newspaper
and gray rooftops,
but catches nothing else
on fire - yet
eventually,
it will burn itself out
and leave
dead leaves
like delicate pages,
like brown ashes,
to crumble underfoot.

Autumn Fog:

Silver falls the autumn rain
with amber leaves to mingle
mist and fog like steam of train
greens verdant fade to umber stain
breath falls from autumn's lips again.
