Cherry Blossom Month 1787 shows the hierarchy in the life of an oiran . . .


"Cherry Blossom Month 1787" . . . A high-ranking courtesan (oiran) and attendant (kamuro) outside a building with cherry trees in blossom. An apprentice kneels on a red carpet in a respectful attitude. The oiran has many combs and hairpins while the apprentice has one of each.
