Well, a storm just came through and scared me a bit: My render has gone over 260 hours, nearly eleven days, and the hair is nearly done. I didn't want to lose power and have to start over. It got me to consider what I would have to do if I had to start rendering again. One solution I guess would be to lessen the volume of the fibers of hair. To do that I would create a solid hair-colored layer of sculpt underneath the surface of the fibermesh, and just keep the fibermesh visible on the outside of it. That way maybe the light wouldn't have to be computed through so much space. I pray that I won't need to go this alternate route. Keep the power on, please!
