Eleven Jewels Wins Contest on FAA . . . The voting is over for the FAA contest 'Words' and Second place goes to . . .
"Eleven Jewels" . . . The early Elgin pocket watches needed a key to wind the mechanism. In the 1880's the company eliminated the key with their new stem winding timepieces. These 11-jewel watches were produced in 1881 and a total of 5,000 were made. This one has the rare stag engraving on the back of the hunters case with a framed monogram on the face cover. The watch was originally presented to my great-grandfather by his parents in 1889. All Rights Reserved © 2012 padre art . . .
