Earlier this year, I decided that I really wanted to find a new creative hobby. In the past, I had tried quilting, jewellery making in a variety of forms, and I also started playing piano again (something I hadn't done in 25 years). I still felt that there was something more that I needed - another creative outlet.
After a lot of reading and researching, I decided to give photography a try. I bought a new camera, started venturing out to sites in the area that I had previously just driven past, and started shooting. I was having a blast learning how to use the camera and learning all about composition, the rule of thirds, colours, and subjects. I was really pleased with my photographs and started getting some of them printed to hang around the house. (yes, I also love all the oohs and aahs I get when friends visit and see my work)
It was not until I discovered Fine Art America and got the opportunity to see the creations from the wealth of extremely talented photographers that sell their work on this site, that I realized how much more I could do with my photos. Every day, I am inspired by what I see on this site and it challenges me to keep improving my work.
I have discovered that as long as I start with a fabulous photograph, I can use many post processing techniques to transform that image into a wonderful piece of art. The image shown is an example of an image that I transformed using different processing techniques and textures. This image was definitely a breakthrough for me, and I am happy to say that I have found my "Inner Artist".
