Salt or sodium consumed in moderation are ok, but there are people who before they even taste their food, have the salt shaker in hand and are showering everything with some extra sprinkles. Salt intake should be kept to a minimum, about 1,500 to 2,300 mg per day, or about 1 teaspoon. If you think about eating one teaspoon a day of salt, it’s quite a lot. Make sure you read the labels of the different foods that you buy. Some foods that are high in sodium are canned soups and potato chips. Choose the low salt or reduced-sodium products and you will help your body so that it doesn’t retain water.
