Among the responses to my recent "Distractions" letter, more than 150 artists named the telephone as a major excuse for not working. Marcie Maynard of South Acworth, New Hampshire wrote, "The phone is my biggest distraction. Intending to go to the studio or outdoors to paint, the phone rings and, like Pavlov's dog, I have to answer. I don't seem to have a choice...

Enjoyed reading this article! Thanks for it and reminds me of years ago when I used to attend classes not relating to art, where I used to do lots of drawing and doodling whilst listening to the lecturer. I did some really interesting and fun doodles than and have used a couple online with my digital art to add colour etc......and to turn into a legitimate piece of art for my own benefit. Also found the drawing helped me concentrate and listen better.
