ArtPrize 2014 Ideas

For those new to ArtPrize, it is one of the largest art competitions in the world (potentially the largest). Located here in Grand Rapids, Michigan, people flock from all over the world to share their sculptures, paintings, drawings and anything you can imagine across the spectrum of art. Winners are chosen based on public vote and juried votes. According to their website, a total of $560,000 is awarded to the winners each year (the #1 winner making an upwards of $200,000). This prize money is not for placing in this contest. This is for exposure.

The 2014 contest runs from September 24th - October 12th and lights up the city with massive crowds and interactive art displays. And for those interested out-of-state or out-of-city artists, they do have stay-in programs available!

Any medium is welcome. Submit items that you would potentially enter into ArtPrize as live exhibits -- 10 submissions allowed and unlimited voting (the real hope being that you, the artist, will find opportunity in ArtPrize). I have been to the event several times and love to see new and unique works. Prints are fine for submission but I would really like some involvement from sculptors and other 3D artists. I hope by looking into this contest that you have checked out the website above and made a consideration. We welcome art and the respective artists to the city!

Side note: The logo image is the ArtPrize logo (left) and the City of Grand Rapids logo (right). The symbol is the 'La Grande Vitesse' which was constructed by Alexander Calder and formally dedicated in 1969 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Grande_Vitesse). I take no credit for the designs but, again, I wanted to share this annual competition with the plenty of talent I have seen on here! :)

Each participant may submit 10 images.

1)   You must be a member of FineArtAmerica.com in order to cast votes in this contest.   Your account must have been active at least 30 days prior to the start of the contest in order to vote.

2)   You may only vote once per image.

3)   You may vote for as many images as you like... but only once for any given image.
