I agree that it is shameless .... but I don't hold it against anyone (even though I can't bring myself to 'beg'/barter for votes). I want my art to stand on it's own and have any vote I do have ... mean something. I know it is encouraged because I'm sure Fine Art is ultimately trying to up their membership by having the contest. And while a few images will go onto the second round not on merit but on the number of votes they were able to obtain by solicitation ... they will ultimately be weeded out because they don't stand up. It is a false hope (for some). I have seen beautiful images that deserve to go to round 2 that only have a few votes and I see some images that have hundreds of votes that look like they belong in the family photo album. Oh well ... it is what it is ... a clever marketing tool of Fine Art. Cheers to them.
P.S. I voted for 6806193. Your work is beautiful ... but I especially found that image to be very pleasing.
Lori. I fully agree with you and feel I am degrading my work to have to ask people to look at my posts and to have to reciprocate. But the reality is that you have to advertise to sell anything. If FAA is trying to increase viewership with its new tv campaign or by forcing us to recruit votes, it should eventually benefit the membership as a whole to get more eyes on our products. I just can't spare much more time for this. Good luck.
