I honestly hate these messages, I will vote for the art work that I like the best, the best artist should be voted for, not someone that will vote for you if you vote for them, its like a bunch of 2nd graders trying to cheat, I really don't care if I win are not. I think my artwork is good enough to stand on its own, weather voted for are not. End of rant!
I 100% understand what you are talking about. The unfortunate part is getting to the 250. I have seen some photos that are pretty lacking that are already over that number. It is unfortunately a popularity contest up to that point. If you do get there, hopefully the judges will vote for the best image. When holding a contest where the popular vote wins, the photographer with the most facebook friends will always win, not the best photo.
Hello Janice, and Shoal, I agree with both of your statements, it's really a who has the most friends on facebook, cause that's the only way of getting to 250. Like Shoal, you said once you are in the finals, then the judges hopefully select the best image. But the real winner of all of this, is fineartamerica.com. Cause with all of us working facebook, and what ever other means for our contest, the website gets a huge, huge amount of potential hits, that they never would had gotten before, and with fine art America winning, with the increased traffic, we all win. So it's good for them, and for us. At least that's how I look at it, and I hope I made some sort of sense..
Thats exactly it Steven. The more traffic to this site, the better our chances of making a sale. Winning a contest is nice and does give the winner bragging rights but at the end of the day, MOST of us are here to sell our photos and art. I have joined groups and entered contests here to add to my exposure with the hopes of actually selling some of my work here. I have to assume that is the goal for the rest of the members here as well. Again, good luck to everyone here in this contest and on this site.
