Contest Rules

Working by the RiverTheme- Working by the River: A Look at How Our Rivers Have Shaped Our Past and How They Will Influence Our Future.

The art can be any medium: painting, pastels, pen and ink, photography, fiber arts and quilts, wood, ceramics, iron, etc. Thematically, the artwork submitted must be related to Alabama in the following ways:
• It may be solely work related
• It may be solely river/lake related
• It may be a combination of both work and the Alabama river system.
• Artwork may range from the historical to current images and ideas.

Ideas might include the following:
•Industries, such as the river and cotton, the steel industry, the fishing industry, aerospace industry, farming industry, hydroelectric industry—the possibilities are endless.
•Sleepy Southern Rural Towns (originally built for river traffic and/or types of work)
•Suburban Communities (near a river and/or various types of work)
•River-Based Recreation Hubs or Historic River-Based Commerce
•Cities and Industries—current or historical (possibly related to river)
•Early Native American Settlements/Artifacts/Symbols, etc. (from a river area)
•Various Types of Work (musician, lawyer, teacher, baker…)

Wetumpka, Alabama's Working by the River, the theme for a group of satellite exhibitions, including ART WALK, will take place in conjunction with the Smithsonian’s: Museum on Main Street Exhibition: The Way We Worked, and will explore how Alabama’s river system shaped its past and how it will influence its future.

Submission Rules

Each participant may submit 5 images.

Voting Rules

1)   Votes may be cast by any visitor to FineArtAmerica.com (members and non-members).

2)   You may only vote once per image.

3)   You may vote for as many images as you like... but only once for any given image.
