Cultural Show of the Arts Open House
The Austin Area Art Center is seeking artists of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds to exhibit their best work during the month of April. In an attempt to embrace and celebrate the rich cultural heritage we have in the greater Austin area, the Austin Area Art Center will be hosting it's first Cultural Diversity Art Exhibit.
This exhibit is open to people of all ethnic and cultural background and will encompass visual arts including but not limited to painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, jewelry, and pottery.
April 21 from 11-2pm is also when The Taste of Nations is coming to the Oak Park Mall. As a result, that is when the open house for this show is scheduled as there will be more mall traffic to see the art as well as interact with the artists. Come on out and enjoy some of the rich cultural heritage that we do indeed have in this area.
To participate in this exhibit, bring up to 4 pieces to the Austin Area Art Center during normal business hours form 12-4 Wednesdays through Sunday and have it there no later than Sunday, April 1st. All wall art must be framed, wired, and if possible backed as well as be for sale. Standard commission rates of 40% for non members and 30% for members apply.
All artwork will remain on display from April 4th through April 29th. A reception will be held in honor of the artists during the "Taste of Nation" celebration on April 21st from 11am to 2pm at the Austin Area Art Center.
