THE USS LIBERTY PERMANENT MEMORIAL

On June 8, 1967, US Navy intelligence ship USS Liberty was suddenly and brutally attacked on the high seas in international waters by the air and naval forces of Israel. The Israeli forces attacked with full knowledge that this was an American ship and lied about it. Survivors have been forbidden for 40 years to tell their story under oath to the American public. The USS Liberty Memorial web site tells their story. A memorial fund has been established for the creation of a permanent memorial site in memory of the 34 brave American patriots who died, and the survivors of this deplorable historical infamy.

1) If you are reaching this page, your are either a Founding Member, or a Supporting member with access to the conceptual design of the Permanent Memorial. All Founding Members, and approved Supporting Members, are highly encouraged to participate in the design process. To do so just paint, draw, use electronic media design ie. PhotoShop, and upload, via email, as a JPG, GIF, PNG, or BMP, to: USSLibertyPM@solidarityus.org. Once properly cropped, these will be placed within the Galleries section where others can view and share ideas.

2) Upon conclusion of the conceptual design process, (somewhere around November 2012) We will be running a contest in the Fine Art America (all media qualified). In this contest, artists from around the United States will participate in competing for the final design. Te final design will be chosen by an eliminator vote cast by the Founders and qualified Supporters of the USS Liberty Permanent Memorial Fund.

3) Upon winning design being chosen, the final design will go to a competition bid to the creative artist that will create the physical memorial itself. We will seek minimal payment for construction in exchange for permanent national exposure of the artist.

4) Upon completion of the Memorial Architecture, placement will be discussed at both the government level and private levels. Ideas of placement are highly encouraged from the start, by the Founders and qualified Supporters, upon submission of their conceptual designs.
