Private Mixed Media Journal “of an Underdog” Living With Trauma Elevated Through Art
Artist/writer Esther Wilhelm,“The Underdog Artist” is a story of grief and redemption

KAILUA, HI – (Release Date: October 8, 2012) – Born a product of rape award-winning artist Esther Wilhelm knows how it is to be an underdog in the rawest sense of the word: she has experienced various forms of tortuous abuse. She discovers her explosive talents and rose above all of it. Doing art less than a year under the tutelage of art instructor Rebecca Horne and created over 200 full-fledged works of art, won several art contest, and been accepted by prestigious galleries to display her work. In this collection of essays, personal e-mails, letters and articles combined into the emotional vision of mixed media art, Esther Wilhelm authors both a literal and avant-garde biography of The Underdog Artist. In all aspects, it is her life being uniquely exposed.

Wilhelm achieves painterly effects using powerful contemporary messages within her compositions. The words become a unwavering testament of strength, determination, and courage. In this private visual dairy, a personal dialog written in her own hand which allows you to view her as if you were on the inside looking out.

This book is an extraordinary departure from the norm. Its success lies in the promising talent of Esther Wilhelm. Though not underplaying her traumatic experiences, her view of life is emotional, raw, and at times dark yet hopeful, emerging, and inspired. Wilhelm, like all gifted underdog artists, translates true experience into elevated art and provides further inspiration for her worldwide audience with this memoir.
