Bustes en Rose: Art and Fashion Against Breast Cancer
Over 35 artists and fashion designers join together during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Chicago Artists Month to aid the local fight against Breast Cancer

Chicago, IL (September 10, 2012) – On Friday, October 19th, over 35 of Chicago’s most talented artists and fashion designers will present the first annual Bustes en Rose: Art and Fashion Against Breast Cancer (Bustes en Rose), an art and fashion exhibit that will raise funds for the Metropolitan Chicago Breast Cancer Task Force. Bustes en Rose will take place in the heart of the Bridgeport Art District at the Zhou B Art Center located at 1029 W. 35th Street from 7pm – 10pm. The exhibition will showcase one of a kind bustiers and corsets, a runway show, and live entertainment. There is no entry fee for the exhibit but a suggested donation of $10. Bustes en Rose will showcase sculptural and wearable bustiers and corsets created out of canvas, stainless steel, carved from wood, covered in Swarovski crystals and many more. All artwork and fashion designs will be available for sale and range from $500 - $5,000 in price. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Metropolitan Chicago Breast Cancer Task Force (The Task Force) a non-profit organization dedicated to ensure women receive the best quality of care in spite of where they live, the type of insurance they have, how much money they earn, and their race. “We were amazed at the overwhelming response we received about the exhibit from the creative community. Once the buzz started we were able to partner with Zhou B Art Center, Chicago Artists Month, May Street Café, and a running list of amazing sponsors. Our participants and sponsors are not only excited about the exhibit but about the opportunity to support a wonderful organization,” said Robin Rios, Geraldine Rodriguez, and Xernona Martin co-founders of Bustes en Rose.

The event will kick off with an invitation only pink carpet reception on October 19th from 5pm -7pm allowing a group of exclusively invited guests the first opportunity to purchase the one of a kind pieces. Guests invited to the pink carpet reception will dine on gourmet hors d’oeuvres, sip handcrafted cocktails and network with featured artists and designers. The exhibition will open to the public at 7pm and run until November 16th with a tour led by one of the curators on October 19th and 20th as part of the Bridgeport Art Walk.
