Mosaic classes are intentionally kept small for students to receive individual attention. Sign up soon with a small deposit, we\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'ll have lots of fun and learn various techniques including information on adhesives, grouts, tools, displaying your work and developing your own style.
We will use traditional and non-traditional mosaic techniques of the student’s choice to understand facial structure, cross-contoure, highlights, shading, gradation and cast shadows. We will learn how to \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"see\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" things differently. The students will learn how to mix glass values and hues to define planes, and how to use color most effectively with artist tricks that will be taught. There will be a short one hour demonstration and a realistic, 11\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" x 14\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" mosaic will be created from your portrait photograph. You will be provided with the necessary supplies to complete your project at home.
We will also discuss: glues, substrates, tesserae and flow of glass with natural facial planes. A handout will be provided and an exploration of ancient mosaicist to contemporary works will be discussed and their work will be examined and compared to your creation and bring the ancient works to the future.
