Flat Art From the Press at Gallery North in Edmonds
Gallery North celebrates the art of the monoprint this July with Flat Art From The Press, a collection of striking and exquisite monoprints by Bonnie AuBuchon and Mary Anderson.
Monoprinting is a technique that has been used to make unique two dimensional images for centuries. The process is much like printmaking, but only one original image is created or subsequent prints are all unique as the artist reworks the master printing plate.
Bonnie AuBuchon and Mary Anderson began printmaking together three years ago after taking a 4 hour workshop on monoprinting. Their shared passion for the technique evolved into an artistic journey of experimentation and learning, leading them to become teachers themselves through Art Works in Edmonds.
“Printmaking allows a journey into color and abstract forms that I have always enjoyed.” says AuBuchon, who began her art career at the University of Washington, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts in Metal Design. Although jewelry design is her primary medium, printmaking has become a significant part of her creative life. Bonnie AuBuchon is a resident artist at Gallery North.
Edmonds award-winning artist Mary Anderson, who is well-known for her lush watercolor paintings, has been creating, exhibiting her work, and teaching in the area for a number of years. Anderson, a member of the Women Painters of Washington and Seattle Co-Arts, is also a graduate of the University of Washington.
The public is invited to meet the artists and enjoy the show at an artists’ reception on Sunday, July 10th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Gallery North. Refreshments will be served. The artists will also be attending the Edmonds Third Thursday Art Walk on July 21st from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
