Oil and Water Do Mix
This June Gallery North is pleased to present Oil and Water Do Mix, the extraordinary work of two distinguished artists, Austin Dwyer (oil painter) and Joan Pinney (watercolor artist). The collection will include dramatic marine paintings and coastal views that contradict the saying that oil and water donít mix. These two artists, who are long time associates and good friends, have come together to create an intense symphony of color and emotion that will have visitors coming back for more.
Austin Dwyer, originally from Ireland, made his home in the United States as a young man after serving in the US Air Force. He graduated from the Burnley School of Professional Art and embarked on a career in advertising. Currently he is a life member and past president of the Puget Sound Group of NW Painters. He is also a signature member of the American Society of Marine Artists and member of the Board of Directors.
Joan Pinney, who is inspired by her travels around the Pacific Northwest, specializes in watercolors of Northwest and maritime scenes, including lighthouses, sailboats, and seascapes. Joan is a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society and a founding member of the Sky Valley Artists Guild and the Arts of Snohomish Gallery.
A number of years ago, Austin and Joan met at an artistsí reception, became friends and later
painted together. They realized that their artistic visions complimented and inspired each other. The result is a wonderful show that gallery visitors will not soon forget.
The public is invited to meet the artists and enjoy their paintings at an Artistsí Reception on Saturday, June 11th from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and the artists will be available to discuss their work.
Austin Dwyer and Joan Pinney will also attend the Edmonds Third Thursday Art Walk on June 16th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Oil and Water Do Mix will be open from June 1st through June 30th. For further information please contact Gallery North at 425-774-0946.
