Press Release:
Art Exhibition at Holy Trinity Church
This weekend, 1st and 2nd September, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Fullarton Street, Ayr will open its doors for visitors as part of the county’s annual ‘Doors Open’ weekend. The organisers had asked that we try and incorporate the theme of ‘art’ as a major feature.
Holy Trinity Church has several talented local artists connected with its congregation, and these artists will have their work displayed at the weekend. They include Ann Mott, Dede Morton, Margaret Collier, John Morris, Karin Stewart, Joan Colquhoun, Moira Pollok Morris, Mike Seville and Anthea Clarke.
Holy Trinity Church itself is a work of art with many stained glass windows, hanging banners, altar frontals, wood and stone sculpture, and a reredos behind the altar carved in wood by Frank Pearson, son of the church’s famous architect, John L. Pearson.
The weekend will conclude on Sunday evening at 6.00pm with a service of Choral Evensong at which the guest preacher will be the Rev Dr Donald Orr, the Diocesan Adviser for artistic matters and a former art teacher.
The exhibition is by free admission on Saturday 1st September from 1pm – 4pm and on Sunday afternoon from 1pm – 6pm.
