Sunset At Grand Canyon Desert View
Bob and Nadine Johnston
Painting - Oil And Acrylic On Canvas
There are brilliant Sunsets in many areas of Arizona. Some of the most striking are viewed at the Grand Canyon National Park, from both the South Rim and North Rims. This particular painting was created at sunset from the desert view point of the Grand Canyon. You can see a sunset from many areas of the Canyon, and each one will be different to those in various areas of the Grand Canyon. The reason is due to the temperature of the day in different areas, there is a different amount of evaporation from the Colorado River. So intensities of colors in the sunsets will vary, even colors will vary rapidly as the sun sets over the horizon. This was painted during what is called "The Golden Hour" or during the last hour of light at the Grand Canyon, Desert View viewpoint.
