Maine is proud of Aroostook County and the production of Maine potatoes. Recent years have shown a reduction in potato acreage and farmers are diversifying by including the production of broccoli and other crops. A ride to the "County" during July will reveal acres and acres of blossomed potatoes in full array of color, broccoli fields, and small grains beginning to ripen. . A special treat is to attend the Maine Potato Blossom which kicks off in mid July.
