Champagne production, 19th century artwork. Cross-section through a champagne warehouse and its cellars, with workers carrying out the various stages of production. This site is owned by the Moet et Chandon champagne house in France, one of the world's largest producers of champagne. This company was established in 1743, and by around 1880 it employed some 2000 people, selling 2.5 million bottles a year.
