Death Can't Break Our Love
Painting - Acrylic
After about a year of working on this piece, it is finally complete!
Cultural Meaning of this painting: "Death Can't Break Our Love" is a dios da la meurta piece I did to celebrate the loved ones of our past, and as a rememberance that no matter what happens to anyone, we will always love them and they will always be in our hearts.
Conceptual Meaning of this painting: The reason I actually created this painting, was because, like some of my previous paintings, I am fascinated by relationships and breakups. "Death Can't Break Our Love" is about the eventual breakup of couples, and when the feeling of breaking up is only one sided, the other side continues to internally love the other person, no matter how much it hurts to know that the relationship is now dead and over, and once actually dead, there is no re-incarnations, even though the person may want to do everything up to selling their own soul to get their loved one back. The rose in the mouth, is like the sacrificial gift they are trying to bring to the table, and even though it looks beautiful, the thorns pierce in the mouth when held and the pain still continues.
