Because of the striking color balance in the original photo, some have suggested this artwork be posted in color. It was a beautiful evening and actually rather chilly. My model was up to the task however. Having conceived of this shot due to the outstanding artwork on her back, waiting for the perfect sky conditions to counterpoint the drama she wore was a challenge. Indiana landscape is a challenge in its own right. I never found the "perfect" location for this shot -- perfect being relatively private, and not too distant (as dramatic weather in Indiana is highly volatile).

We compromised with our largest cemetery which also provides the highest elevation in town. After struggling to mate her form against the ornate mausoleums and not getting what I felt captured the splendor of her back, we started to retreat in submitted resignation. Only at the last moment did I implore her for a couple more shots against an alternate setting in the same area, and it was from that small batch that the winning specimen was selected. I hope you enjoy the efforts of our frantic scramble that evening.
