His And Hers
Photograph - Photograph
While visiting an old log cabin settlement which has been preserved, this inviting scene presented itself to me. It reminded me strongly of my great grandparents who used to sit in front of the "grate", as she called the fireplace, settled into their rocking chairs, where he would smoke his pipe and blow the smoke out of the side of his mouth every once in awhile...and she would raise her head and turn it slightly towards him and breathe the second-hand smoke with her eyes closed. I can see it clearly to this day, the peaceful look on their faces. Contentment. At that time, they'd been married for over 60 years.
