The name hydrangea comes from the Greek word hydor, meaning water, and angos, meaning jar or vessel, referring to the need the hydrangea has for plenty of water and its cup-shaped flower. The color of a hydrangea is determined by the acidity level of the soil. As the 4th wedding anniversary flower, the hydrangea symbolizes enduring grace and beauty.
