This photo was inspired by Willem Kalf's "Still Life with a Chinese Porcelain Jar" (oil on canvas, 1669) which can be seen at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. I tried to recreate the composition and lighting as close as the original as possible. However, I had to use my own pieces as substitute Kalf's. He used a gilded, quite ornate base for a berkemeyer and a smaller roemer, objects I do not posses. I substituted those for a flute glass and a wine glass. As was customary to see in his paintings, note he reflection of the orange on the silver plate.
