Ke lei mai la o Paako . Paako wears the ocean like a wreath

Paako Beach with a view of Makena Beach . also known as Makena Beach State Park and most often called Big Beach in the distance .
. it's official Hawaiian name for this cinder cone is Puu Olai . said to mean Earthquake Hill . . locals call it Round Mountain .

One of the largest beaches on Maui . Oneloa is about two thirds of a mile long with the most luxurious golden sand . It is a scenic wildland beach park characterized by the prominent cinder cone Puu Olai and long sand beach.
Swimming during calm seas, bodysurfng, board surfng, shore fishing, and beach related activities. No drinking water. CAUTION: Shore break can be dangerous. I know this from personal experience . be careful of the rip tides .

There is a shallow dive site nearby which has nice corals (look but don't touch), an extensive sand channel and a cave. You may see Snake Eels, Morays, Nudibranchs, Tiger Sharks, many kind fish, Humpback Whales, Honu, Manta Rays and White Tips at this site.

Puu Olai is a 360-foot cinder hill formed when molten lava forced by gases roaring from a volcanic vent fell to earth in a near-perfect cone on the south coast of Maui Hawaii. Little Beach is on the other side of the cinder cone.
