Photograph - Photograph
North celestial pole. Optical image of constellations around the north celestial pole. The pole is marked by the bright star Polaris (Alpha Ursae Minoris, upper centre) in the constellation Ursa Minor, the little bear. At lower right is the constellation Cassiopeia, the queen, with its brightest stars forming a W shape. At upper right is the faint constellation Cepheus, the king, with the even fainter Camelopardalis, the giraffe, at upper left. The bright star at bottom left is Capella (Alpha Aurigae), the sixth brightest star in the sky. Part of the Milky Way is seen at lower right.
