Description
The Salar de Uyuni in south west Bolivia is the world's largest salt flat, covering 10,582 square km / 4,086 square miles at an altitude of 3656m / 12,000ft. It often floods during the rainy season, turning the surface into a giant mirror which reflects the skies and clouds. The peak on the horizon is the Tunupa volcano (5320m / 17,460ft), which dominates views across to the northern shore of the Salar.
