Description:

-Please Note: Watermark (written over picture in lower right corner) does not appear on your purchases.- This painting has gone through several permutations. Around August of 2008, I began reworking it. I wasn't completely satisfied with the result until I finished reading Gary Renard's book The Disappearance of the Universe this year (2009). It cleared up no less than my confusion about the meaning of human existence! This led to a new and final direction for the painting itself.
The image first came to me as an actual event that took place at one of the larger Finger Lakes in New York State. During his quest for spiritual guidance, the man at right sees his spirit ancestors during one of their sacred light festivals. He is perceiving the Wholeness which we achieve when we forgive the reasons for our existence on the level of form.
The spheres are symbolic of our ultimate realization that we are not bodies and can transcend existence on the level of form. The holographic nature of our Oneness with God is represented by the interplay among the single flames of light within the spheres. There are lights within spheres held by the people; but also the distant humans appear as lights within spheres, suggesting that this pattern repeats, contracting into - and expanding out away from and beyond - the cellular level.
A year or so went by after the painting was first set to canvas when I found out about and attended an actual Native American Festival of Light at Keuka Lake, one of the Finger Lakes. Several Iroquois people participated with dancing and music. It was a treat to relive the "imagined" event in concurrent "reality". It's as though a thread has been woven through existence and channeled through my awareness. I'm deeply grateful for having been led to receive this from a Source higher than myself, without which I could not have created it.
