Description:
This piece is from my Floral series. They were inspired from a summer 2008 visit to the Bird Haven Greenhouse and Conservatory in Joliet, Illinois. It is an amazing place and I recommend any who can get to see it, please do.For the backgrounds I use scans of various art that I make from scratch. I will do watercolor, and then add pastel or even oil or pretty much anything to get the effect I want, then, I can work with it to achieve the effect that I want. This process can take several months and I have several "backgrounds" in the works at all times. Then I build these up to the finished art. The process is very time intensive, but I think the overall effect is worth it.
