Wool combing machine, 19th century. Illustration of a young girl operating a wool combing machine. This wool combing machine was designed by Emil Hubner. Wool combing machines, part of the mechanization of the textile industry, arrange wool fibres in parallel strands. Artwork from volume 4 (1875) of a republication of 'Les Grandes Usines', a multi-volume work on French industry by journalist and author Julien Turgan (1824-1887).
