Description
1041 Royal Street is located at the corner of Royal and Ursulines in the French Quarter of New Orleans.
Just one block from Bourbon Street, Royal Street is one of the oldest streets in the city, dating from the French Colonial era, and is most well known for the antique shops, art galleries, and stately hotels that line its sides as it runs through New Orleans' French Quarter and tourist district. Royal Street is the best known street in the French Quarter besides Bourbon Street.
Featured during some French Quarter tours, 1041 Royal Street, according to the tours was once home to a man rumored to be a vampire. As the story goes, this man/vampire attacked and bit a woman late one night. In an effort to escape the vampire the woman threw herself from one of the upstairs windows, landing on the street below.
Another story claims that a mysterious man who went by many names (one of which was Comte Saint-Germaine) was proported to be a highly skilled alchemist.
This black and white photograph was taken in early morning. Roysl Pharmacy is also visible in the photograph.
