Lawrence, ka - United States

This particular radiator cap was not standard, but was aftermarket and more expensive. They were very popular and widely used. The standard cap was similar, but not done by an artist and sculpter as this one was. The only problem is they were a beautiful piece of art and were often stolen like the German Silver flying lady of the Rolls-Royce. On the Pierce Arrow they were finshed differently and were an inch taller than the standard radiator cap which featured an archer also but was stamped into the upright metal portion of the cap. It was not unusual for owners to remove this beauitiful piece of art and substitute the standard cap when they parked the car. Another feature of the Pierce arrow was the headllamps fared into the tops of the front fenders rather than standing alone as almost all other cars of this period.

One of the three Ps that were at the pinnacle of American autos of this period; Packarrd, Peerless and Pierce Arrow.

So true - and they don make them like that any more. Thanks for the visit, Everett.
