Description:
The Corvette was introduced in 1953 and was only available in white. The 1954 and 1955 models were very similar except they were available in other colors. The easiest way to identify a 1955 is by looking at the Chevrolet script on the side fender. A large “V” is superimposed over the small “V” in the script. This was done to identify it as having a V8 engine which was introduced in 1955.
It is estimated that only about 100 of the original 700 produced still exist. The 700 cars built in 1955 is the second lowest number of Corvettes ever built in a model year. Only the 300 built in the inaugural year of 1953 is lower.
