19th Century Reflection
Iosua Tai Taeoalii
Painting - Photography, Aerosols, Acrylics, Stencils On Wood
I created this painting from a photograph that I took at a 4th of July celebration parade in SLC, Utah. I uploaded the photo to Photoshop, separated it into shadow and highlight layers, printed each layer on to mylar and then hand cut each layer with an exacto knife. I used those mylar layers as stencils to spraypaint each individual layer. Once all layers are sprayed, I place a matte or "Cookie-Cutter" over the image and hand paint the background with acrylics and freehand spraypaint techniques.
