Description
Imitation snake skin fabric. This imitation snakeskin pattern is made from array of optical tiles. Each optical tile is a beveled, cylindrical 'pixel' with an angled surface that reflects a particular, precisely determined amount of light. The result is an image or pattern formed into the material itself. Image processing software, known as Ombrae, converts images into pixels and instructs casting or printing machinery to produce the angled cylinders. A variety of materials can be used with this technique, including metal, ceramics, plastics, textiles, glass and concrete. The system is able to produce materials at any scale large or small.
