One bird on the whole tree -- must be lonesome! This highly textured watercolor painting has been enhanced with some pen work. I love to combine both mediums when doing my artwork. I find that the pen work can add detail and intrigue to a watercolor painting, that often can't be done with a brush stroke.
This little guy was just as happy as could be, sitting on a snowy branch, just above the bird feeder. Evidently his tummy was full and he was content. I thought it quite unusual that he would be out in the snow when it was still coming down, but it looked customary for this little bird.
Maybe it was a message from God, telling me that I didn't need to be lonesome that winter -- it was a particularly depressing one for me. I don't know, but I sure had fun painting him from the photos I took!
