Cancer Cell Death Sequence, Sem
Photograph - Photograph
The final stages in the death of a cancer cell. A cancer cell (faintly yellow) has become fused with a macrophage cell (blue), which has injected toxins into the cancer cell (1). The cell starts rounding up as the macrophages, which are fused with it, take over and become smooth (2). In the final stage, the cancer cell then loses its morphology, shrinks up and dies (3). Magnification (left to right) x26,000; x56,000; x14,000. Enhancements of BS9473, BS9474, and BS9475.
