Description
Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria, coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). These Gram-positive cocci (spherical bacteria) are found on human skin. They are usually harmless, but are able to form biofilms on plastics and so can cause infections around medical devices such as catheters and drips. Magnification: x3300 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
