Description
Finally my 1992 Volvo stationwagon, filled with memories of family and friends,
found a new home. For too long it had stood numb in the garage, and then its
new owner jumped it and hauled it away. Later, weeks later, missing my dear friend, I found that it had left me four really nice memory tire prints. A little farewell gift.

Many thanks David for featuring "A Farewell Gift" in Midwest America Photography. I'm so happy to see this, one of my favorite photos ever, find a new showcase! I am honored! Hurray for my teal blue 1992 Volvo stationwagon too!

Many thanks Stefano for featuring my artful goodbye to my Volvo in 10 Plus. This was a special photo for me and I love that it's been given an extra showcase!

Single gal and a 68 green Mustang? Can't WAIT to hear the story and see the photo! I'm happy that I told you how I felt!
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
I'll get to it....or them. I'll have to be selective. What fun! And Happy Thanksgiving also!!
CJ Anderson
It's not often, well NEVER, that a car story bring a lump to my throat! This is a wonderful photo and your story is priceless, Nancy! So very creative! Bravo! Fav'd!
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
What a nice extra treat you have given me for Thanksgiving. I have that lump in my throat once more, the flash of teal blue, that great memory. I have only one more car story in me and one day I'll show and tell about my 68 green Mustang!!! I was single then......
Chris Berry
Excellent abstract. Great textures and pattern. Love the title and the story.
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
How can one love a car? How can it hold so many memories? How can one ever forget that car when it's gone? I really treasure this photograph.

This is so cool! I too am one of those who hate to give up our cars, trucks and vans. We spend so much time in them and they take us on so many adventures.
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
Oh, I'll always remember that Volvo....you are so right...cars represent our adventures!
Karen Adams
What a great eye you have to see the beauty of this print on the ground...it really makes a great image, Nancy! I feel the same way about my vans, so many memories ...I keep them until I have to part with them!....fav/v6
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
This was on the garage floor....and I almost swept it away! The sand is kitty litter....to soak up the oil! What a mess....but I was so proud of the Volvo. It looked brand new!
Nancy Kane Chapman
I guess I could consider this "mixed media" rather than "photography" since there is clearly oil involved and also the glittering kitty litter!

Without knowing what this design was, I just loved this image and your post-processing. A fascinating image and awesome work. And I like that I'm not the only one who gets attached to a car. v/f
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
There was a massive oil leak, and we just let it "bleed out" and then I used kitty litter to soak it up. That's the sparkle of sand. I will always miss that beautiful teal blue stationwagon! It looked like new and will be again a family car.

What a great idea for an abstract!!!! I get attached to my old cars too! LF
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
Another FAA artist, Marlene Burns, photographs the streets of Tucson and inspired me to try this.

Wonderful textures! I could look at this a long time! Intriguing! FV
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
I enhanced the color a bit to bring up the design. This print is such a nice reminder of my dear car. The new owner is a mechanic and has a daughter, so I approved of its new home and know it will be loved.
