A Fish Story
Photograph - Nature Photography
The river otter is one of six species of otters in the world. Like their weasel relatives, otters have thick fur, perfect insulation against Yellowstone’s cold winters. They are highly active and constantly searching for food. They eat up to 2 pounds per day of insects, frogs, and fish. Females give birth to 2-3 pups in late spring or early summer. This otter pup had caught a cutthroat trout almost as big as himself and was enjoying it on the edge of the lake while his siblings continued to fish. Hope you enjoy the photo.
