Photograph - Photography
a genesis enchanting morning sunrise above the old city of Jaffa, Israel.
in front of the old houses of Jaffa, an abandoned boat is resting and enjoying the first daylight rays of sun, making the whole scene look like Noah's Ark.
Many legends are related to Jaffa from the story of Jonah and the whale, Greek legends of the beautiful Andromeda, and its foundation by Yefet, the son of Noah, captain of one of the most famous arks in history.
Jaffa has always served as a port city for pilgrims heading to Jerusalem and the old port of Jaffa claims to be the oldest port in the world, mentioned several times in the bible and its history is spanning over 3000 years.
Through the history, Jaffa was always a very desired city and knew conquerors and rulers from all over the world. All realized the military importance of the area and each conquered it in order to gain control and approach to the Holy Land of Israel.
For centuries, the control of the area passed from one kingdom to another. Jaffa had been conquered more than than 20 times through this period of 3000 years. A very desired city eventually.
This port of Jaffa had many known visitors through the history, such as King Richard the Lionheart on 1191, the emperor and leader Napoleon Bonaparte of France at 1799, and the British general Edmund Allenby who conquered Jaffa in November 1917.
The old city of Jaffa is holding today numerous art galleries, the old port and a lighthouse, a beautiful garden on top of the hill, some cool restaurants and cafes.
