A Grove Of Trees Surrounded By Fog And Golden Light by Jo Ann Tomaselli
On evening this image was taken, the air was so thick with humidity that it was literally made up of droplets of water. This is a common occurrence in most regions when the dew point is at or near the temperature of the air. As a matter of fact, it's a condition that most photographers hope happens as it lends such great atmosphere to photographs!
It was about 9:30 pm and up on Highway 17, the air was cool and clear. As I drove the 2 miles East to the coast, the fog descended slowly and by the time I reached my house, it lay thick all around me. This neighborhood, a few blocks from my home, is lit by low sodium vapor street lights which lend the orange glow to the back lit trees.
Although taken in February, I call this image Halloween Remembrance; the dark, foggy, orange landscape reminds me of that spooky time when I was a kid and would wander outdoors, in all types of weather, trick or treating from door to door such seasonal pleasures among the naturally growing majestic live oak trees that line most of the neighborhoods in the Southeast - mature forests, beautiful in their allure and offering scare y, haunting silhouettes full of potential danger!
