A Memorable Savanna Sunset Kundelungu National Park Dr Congo
Photograph - Prints Or Digital Files
In 2012 II spent over two months at different times of the year assisting in work to plan for rehabilitation of two national parks in the Katanga Province (Southeast) of the Democratic Republic of Congo. You can read on my BLOG more about these beautiful landscapes and ecosystems at: http://geobobford.blogspot.com/2012/09/consulting-in-kundelungu-and-upemba.html. One of those evenings I found myself sitting out on the savanna and experiencing a truly memorable sunset. The beauty was haunting and gorgeous, but it also brought a certain sadness because this landscape--as beautiful as it is--is almost empty of large animals due to the wars and insecurity that have plagued the region over the last 10-15 years. Hopefully, the animals will return with peace, new management structures, and once again--hopefully--people can enjoy the beauty of this wonderful landscape and also see the sun setting behind silhouette of umbrella-shaped acacia tree on the savanna woodland of Kundelungu National park, Katanga Province, DRC-Congo, Central Africa.
